Massage Therapy at Revolution Chiropractic
Now more than ever, people are seeking a respite from the chaos of world events and everyday stress. At Revolution Chiropractic, a warm and friendly oasis of healing, we are pleased to offer massage therapy!
Choosing Chiropractic and Massage
You don’t have to be a chiropractic patient with us to get a massage at our office. You should know, however, that the combination of massage and chiropractic can be particularly powerful. Here are some of the many benefits of massage:
- Improves blood flow
- Decreases pain
- Promotes relaxation
- Breaks up adhesions
- Enhances range of motion
- Restores normal muscle function
- Relieves stress
- Assists with injury recovery
Using chiropractic and massage together can help provide you with more complete healing. Massage focuses on a particular area of the body, while chiropractic promotes your overall function.
From deep tissue to Swedish, there are many different massage techniques available. If you have an acute injury, a lighter touch is ideal. If you have a recent problem, you may not be able to tolerate much pressure in the area, which we can accommodate. Have a chronic condition? If yes, you may benefit most from deep tissue work. We’ll discuss what’s right for you and make sure we work within your comfort levels.
How do I need to prepare for my massage?
There’s nothing special you need to do before your massage. Just plan to get here a few minutes early. We will give you a form to complete before you see our massage therapist. You’ll let her know what’s brought you in.
Yes! Infants can have massage as can young children. Adults and seniors can have massage too.
Massages should never hurt. If you are in pain during your massage, your muscles might tense, making it more difficult to experience relations. If you feel that the pressure used in your massage is too intense, let your therapist know right away and she can adjust the amount of force used.
There are particular techniques that may result in some soreness during the days after getting a massage. Any soreness is similar to that of a good workout at the gym. In general, however, you should not have pain during or after your massage.
You can undress to your comfort level. Our massage therapist will accommodate your preference. If, for example, you’re just getting work done on your upper body, you can elect to leave your pants on. If it’s an area that she needs to work on, the clothes need to be removed.
The relaxation and soft tissue manipulation provided by massage therapy set the stage for chiropractic adjustments. Massage may help the body “hold” the adjustment longer.
It depends on your particular condition. You may need one session or require several to address your needs. After your first session, our massage therapist will discuss her recommendations.
Massage therapists offer non-invasive, drug-free treatments for many types of injuries and pain. However, massage isn’t for everyone. Those with high blood pressure, deep-vein thrombosis and certain skin conditions should check with their doctor prior to getting a massage.
If you feel dizzy, have a fever or have recently been in an accident, you may want to delay your massage appointment. If you are in your first trimester of pregnancy, you shouldn’t get a massage.
Some insurance will cover therapeutic massage, but not all. Please check with your provider.
